Adjusting the Lower Thread Tension

The bobbin thread tension is preset at the factory to suit standard threads. When using thicker or special threads, e.g. elastic threads, it may be necessary to adjust the bobbin thread tension. Always perform a sewing test before adjusting the bobbin thread tension.

  1. Insert the bobbin with thread into the bobbin case.
  2. Hold the end of the thread and let the bobbin case drop down once abruptly.
  3. If the thread runs continuously out of the bobbin case, the bobbin thread tension is too low.
  4. If the thread does not run out of the bobbin case, the bobbin thread tension is too high.
  5. To increase the thread tension, turn the larger screw on the bobbin case to the right.
  6. To reduce the thread tension, turn the larger screw on the bobbin case to the left.
