Sewing a Narrow Hem

The hemmer foot (optional accessory) is required.

  1. Fit the hemmer foot.
  2. Set the required stitch length.
  3. Fold the edge of the fabric by approx. 3 mm and fold it over again. Fold the first 5 cm of the fabric edge to be sewn over.
  4. Place the fabric edge with the wrong side of the fabric facing upwards under the presser foot, slightly less than the width of the presser foot.
  5. Sew 4 – 5 stitches.
  6. Raise the needle and presser foot.
  7. Pull the fabric backwards by about 10 – 15 cm. Do not cut the thread.
  8. Hold the 4 threads in your left hand. Pull the edge of the fabric into the spiral guide on the hemmer foot using your right hand.
  9. Lower the presser foot.
  10. Continue sewing slowly while slightly folding the cut edge of the fabric in front of the hemmer foot and holding it to the left. Guide the edge of the fabric evenly into the spiral guide on the hemmer foot and sew.
