Troubleshooting

Fault

Solution

Fabric does not feed well.

  1. Elongate the stitch length.
  2. Increase the presser foot pressure for heavyweight fabric.
  3. Decrease the presser foot pressure for lightweight fabrics.
  4. Check the setting of the differential feed.

Needle breaks

  1. Insert the needle correctly.
  2. Don't pull the fabric while sewing.
  3. Tighten the needle screw.

  1. Insert new needles; the inserted needles may be defective.
  2. Tighten the needle screw.
  3. Match the needle size with the fabric/thread.
  4. Insert the needles correctly.
  5. Change type or size of the needle.
  6. Check the thread path.
  7. Increase the presser foot pressure.
  8. Adjust the thread tension.
  9. Use high-quality thread.

Irregular stitches

  1. Adjust the thread tension.
  2. Check for tangled or caught thread.
  3. Check the thread path.

Fabric puckers

  1. Check the setting of the differential feed.
  2. Loosen the thread tension.
  3. Check for tangled or caught thread.
  4. Use high-quality thread.
  5. Shorten the stitch length.
  6. Decrease the presser foot pressure for lightweight fabrics.

Irregular trimming

  1. Check the alignment of the knives.
  2. Replace one or both knives.

Fabric jam

  1. Decrease the presser foot pressure.
  2. Check the setting of the differential feed.
  3. Check for tangled or caught thread.
  4. Baste thick layers of fabric first with a conventional sewing machine before sewing it with the overlocker.

The fabric is not cut properly

  1. Set the cutting width to 9.
